The Terminal 2 building is newly constructed by CAN. It is a unique, symbolic and world-class terminal in combination of modern function, traditional culture, local characteristic and natural landscape.

The total area of the second terminal area is 880,700 m2 (including 658,700 m2 of Terminal 2, 222,000 mof Ground Traffic Center), with the designed capacity of 45 million annual passenger throughput, 43,000 mof business area in T2, 397 check-in counters, 5,127 parking spaces (including 3,771 in GTC, 1,356 in outside Parking Lot). The newly designed T2 and T1 will become the new "twin terminals" of CAN.

   Updated Information of Terminal 2

At present, The T2 building and supporting facilities have completed the final acceptance of construction by Guangdong Airport Authority (GAA) from Feb. 6 to 7, and completed industrial acceptance by CAAC Central and Southern Regional Administration from Feb. 9 to 10. It meant that the T2 and supporting facilities was in the final checking period before opening.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Corporation (GBIAC) has been busy with equipment tests and drills. The terminal environment has been improving with landscapes. Now the operational teams are basically in place, and all kinds of preparing work are underway.

   Preparation before Opening

The Terminal 2 project is systematic from completing construction to operator transfer, then tests and drills, finally put into operation. For instance, before the official opening of T2, various complex drills will be made to check the existing problems to be found and solved as soon as possible.

The opening of T2 not only relates to the airport, but also relates to the cooperation and promotion with other units of civil aviation and traffic management departments. In this March, the administrative control of ramp at CAN will be transferred, the ground operational management and command will fully transferred to CAN. The transfer is very crucial. Thus the preparation and management must be fully and strengthened. Meanwhile, the opening of T2 and GTC (Ground Traffic Center) need to be well prepared and connect closely.

Besides, the operational work during Spring Festival Travel Rush continues to the middle of March. All units of civil aviation are taking efforts to the operational work, so does the operation for the representatives of NPC & CPPCC. Due to the above reasons, as for the safety and high-quality operation of T2, the official opening time of T2 is set on April 26, 2018.

Promoting the Construction of International Aviation Hub

With the support and push of Guangdong Party Committee and Government, and benefits from the policies of Guangdong Military and Civilian Integration, Detailed Reform on Airspace, CAN has achieved fast and good development in the construction of international aviation hub.

In 2017, the passenger throughput of CAN was up to 65.84 million, increasing by 10.2%, whose increasing rate ranked first among the China's top 6 airports. And It ranked 13th among global airports, increased up 2 places. Among which, the international and regional passengers was up to 15.89 million, increasing by nearly 20%. And there were 23 international flight routes and 7 destinations newly increased. The cargo and mail throughput was up to 1.78 million tons, increasing by 7.8%. In 2018, CAN's passenger throughput will reach 70 million, and the cargo and mail throughput will reach 1.9 million tons, stepping towards the objective of world-class aviation hub.

In 2017, the GAA persisted in the "Cordial Service" and kept the standard of "First-Class in Domestic, Advanced in World", with the attitude and courage of "Zero tolerance" to the service problems, strengthening a series of service work like the flight regularity, system construction, service innovation, problems correction.
